What's Blooming, Edition 10

Rhododendron - Rhododendron spp. This little bush did quite spectacularly this year. It looked really sad when we first moved in. It's taken 5 years of care to get it to look like this. We just found out from the neighbors that it was planted in 1998, after the previous owner's husband passed away. The bush was one given to the family at the funeral home.

Dianthus -  Dianthus spp. I've had this particular dianthus about 10 years. It was in a planted with some other plants in a pot until we moved here. I'm surprised and pleased it has come back every year. I don't know what species it is, there are over 300.

Geranium - Geranium spp. Another variety (we have a lot of geraniums). It's in a hanging basket on the front porch, we've managed to keep it alive for three years now. Ian points at it anytime he sees it - he wants us to push it so it will swing back and forth.

Nana Coreopsis - Coreopsis auriculata. We planted this little perennial several years ago, and it's grown so much that we've been able to divide it several times and move it to other parts of the yard. This one's especially nice in that it blooms off and on all spring and summer long.
