A Weekend In April

This past weekend was one of those I wish I could tuck in my back pocket and pull out anytime I needed a pick me up.

Saturday morning we had a late breakfast at Razzleberry's, then walked around Jackson Square. It was the first Saturday of our local farmer's market. But by the time we ate and browsed through the local businesses, the market was all finished. It's a good thing it's every weekend, we hear they've got fresh strawberries, one of Ian's favorite fruits. Oh and the garden club was selling wild flowers, and I got some shooting star to plant - score!

Saturday night we had some friends over and grilled burgers. So much fun! The perfect weather - warm and no mosquitoes. There was cold brew for the adults, sparklers for the kids. It was something else watching those kids in our yard. There were 6 between the ages of 5 and 15, running around and playing. Made me content. This is what life is all about.

And the 2 little ones had a big time, too.

Sunday we spent most of the day working in the yard. I did some weeding, planted my shooting star. Jason made a new flower bed to enclose one of our crepe myrtles.

I scrubbed all of our deck furniture.

Phoebe supervised from the shade of the azalea bush.

Truth be known, Phoebe actually got to stay out for about 2 hours because I completely forgot about her. Woops. Luckily she didn't wiggle out of her harness. When I finally remembered she was REALLY ready to come in.

Ten minutes later she was at the back door hollering to coma back out.

Fickle cat.

Ian was a good boy. Several weeks ago we bought him an outdoor play yard, so he stayed in the with some toys, the some time in the walker. He really does love to be outside.

Especially when Daddy comes over and tosses you up high in the sky.

And when he walks you around so you can point at things.

He points at anything that hangs from a chain or a string - he wants you to touch it so it will swing back in forth. It started with wind chimes, but now includes hanging baskets and humming bird feeders and chains from ceiling fans. He will wear you out.

And sometimes he points at the sky.

Silly little dude, when he gets really excited he points with both hands.

Anyway, hope you all had a good weekend, too.
