Now for some cute pictures . . . .
And my personal favorite of the day - Ian sitting in the grass, noticing the cat and pointing. He's pointing at everything these days.
So about the cat. This is Miss Kitty. She is hands down the coolest cat ever. In addition to being a super cool cat, she's also really pretty.
She's a tiny thing, maybe 5 pounds with 3 inches of hair sticking in every direction.
Miss Kitty was acquired through a spay neuter lab when I was in vet school. At the time, the dogs and cats used to teach students how to spay and neuter came through one of the local shelters. The animals were altered, and sent back to the shelter to be adopted. However, if the students wanted to keep the animal, they could. I think most of us students had at least one animal we took from those spay neuter labs. We were big suckers.
So anyway, that particular day I walked into the lab and Miss Kitty (whose shelter designated name was actually Miss Marple) was being toted around by the veterinary technician's daughter, who was approximately four years old. When I say being toted around, I mean she was holding her by one leg. Miss Kitty was, I kid you not, while being held by one leg, simultaneously purring, making biscuits, and licking the little girl's leg (because she was upside down).
J's mom had been asking me to get her a cat for several months. So I thought this would be the perfect cat for them. So, spur of the moment, I made a claim on her. I spayed her and brought her back to the apartment. She stayed with us for the rest of the week (much to Phoebe's dismay), before moving in with J's parents.
The rest, as they say, is history. She's been there about 7 years now, and has made herself right at home. She takes care of mice, voles, snakes, lizards, frogs, and (unfortunately) the occasional bird. She goes on walks with J's parents, and her best friend is their dog, Jenny. She and Jenny groom each other - it is too sweet.
She loves to lick, and when she's happy she drools more than any cat I have ever seen. It's seriously like a faucet.
Ian was beside himself when he saw her. And, being the sweet thing she is, she let him
Good kitty.
