We've had a bit of a rough go this last week. All three of us got a stomach bug. Let me tell you, it's scary to all be sick at the same time. Fortunately, two things saved us.
1. Ian never ran a fever, and never outwardly acted like he felt bad.
2. Although we were all sick at the same time, we didn't all have the worst of it at the same time. Thank God.
Ian came down with vomiting and diarrhea first in the morning. It surprised me when he puked (all over me, I might add). It actually took a second puke a few minutes later for me to realize it wasn't just spit up. His diarrhea started soon thereafter. But like I said, he continued to be happy and chipper throughout the day. He ate and nursed normally.
J was feeling fine other than a headache, but then he took a nap. When he woke up he was sick, sick and within a few hours was running a fever. He was absolutely miserable.
The next morning I continued to feel perfectly fine, and then it hit me late in the afternoon. Oh my god, I have NEVER gotten so sick so fast. It was AWFUL. J was still sick himself, no longer running a fever but very achy and weak. All I could do was lay on the couch helplessly while my still sick husband took care of Ian. I couldn't even stand up, much less get a baby ready for bed.
We're all on the mend now, although not back to 100% yet. Throughout all of it, Ian has been a happy, pleasant little guy.
I am soooo glad the worst of it didn't hit us all at the same time. Being sick has a whole twist on it when you have a little one to take care of.
